Today before the opening bell, 3DIcon Corp. announced that it has completed its work on a prototype of its proprietary three-dimensional display system CSpace™. This unique technology allows users to view volumetric 3D images from any angle without viewing aids (such as 3D glasses). CSpace is able to instantly project virtually any object in three dimensions.

3DIcon’s technology has reached unprecedented levels of superiority by being the first 360-degree static volumetric 3D display, the first 3D display that does not have mechanical/moving parts, and having the capacity to produce the highest resolution of any 3D technology, capable of rendering a picture comparable to today’s HD televisions. According to the company, CSpace unlocks multi-billion-dollar markets located within the military, homeland security, medical diagnostics, air traffic control, oil and gas, entertainment, gaming and advertising industries.

3DIcon chairman and CEO Martin Keating stated, “We stated that we would deliver a working prototype for rendering a 3D image in a static volume space by the end of 2008. We have achieved this major breakthrough. We have begun talks with potential sub-licensing partners and hope to conclude licensing agreements.”

“What makes CSpace widely adoptable is the fact that it is the first 360-degree volumetric technology that is non-mechanical. The first generation of TVs was mechanical and could never be commercialized. The wide adoption of television started only when the non-mechanical TV was invented. CSpace brings the same quantum leap to 3D technology,” commented Dr. Hakki Refai, 3DIcon’s chief technology officer and inventor of CSpace.

The company and its team of experts will be demonstrating this prototype technology to potential licensing and development partners. Looking to the future, the company anticipates demonstrating scalability by increasing the image space to four times the current volume in this prototype. Other future goals include improving CSpace’s render rates and adding the ability to display additional colors.
