Bright Strike Tactical Illumination Products Incorporated, a maker of tactical flash lights and personal protection systems, was recently featured in a full-page USA Today advertisement. Bright Strike, founded by two former police officers, recently introduced the Tactical Blue Dot Series of protective flashlights, and those flashlights are already being used by private citizens and law enforcement agencies such as the CIA and FBI.

The Massachusetts-based company’s flashlights feature Light-Emitting Diode technology (LED) that creates a flawless, bright light that can be used to disorient an attacker. Bright Strike has partnered with Philips Lumileds, the world’s leading maker of LEDs, to produce both the Tactical Blue Dot and Protector Series of flashlights. The Tactical Blue Dot Series has a potential market of 666,000 police officers across the U.S.

Bright Strike started making tactical flashlights that were designed and created by police officers for police officers in the hopes of providing better protection and superior light for officers in the field. However, the company is carving out a niche for itself by marketing its products to women. In the U.S. alone, 900,000 women were attacked at night last year.

The Protector Series emits an ear-piercing personal alarm along with a high-intensity flashing strobe light to deter the approach of potential attackers. The system was specifically designed for women, senior citizens, students and others wanting an easy-to-use personal protection system. The company said earlier this year, Lowe’s, the No. 2 U.S. home improvement retailer, will begin selling Bright Strike products.
