The fabled “garage start-up” is alive and well in the software applications world. It may have become a bit more sophisticated in recent years where company structure is concerned, but it is essentially the same animal - a person with an idea and a dream. As has been seen in the past, these ideas and dreams are not to be ignored. Finding the right idea and person to make it happen are the keys.
Almadoro Minerals Inc., a company transitioning from mining exploration to software development, is currently a Canadian mining exploration company. As paperwork and filings are completed, it will begin operating as an iPhone 3G and iPod touch applications development company. The company’s listed mining interests include property positions in British Columbia, Canada and Ecuador. It has one employee. The transition to an iPhone and iPod touch applications development company will entail a name change to TopSlide Inc. and a new ticker symbol.
The new company will be capitalizing on all aspects of being considered as an Apple applications developer. This includes access to debugging and distribution programs offered through Apple’s iPhone Developer Connection program. Initially, the new company will be concentrating on games and other coming mobile applications intended for Apple’s new 3G iPhone and iPod touch products. Through other agreements, the company will also be taking advantage of developer programs offered through: Goggle, Symbian, Nokia, Motorola, SonyErikson and AT&T.
Although the company will be operating as a development team of one (with widely attributed development experience), it does hold solid promise for growth. The 10 million iPhones on the market today offer a solid base to grow from as customers become more familiar with the applications that 3G and iPod touch products offer to the marketplace. The continuing growth of the mobile marketplace will also offer the company increased opportunity as North American mobile users begin to catch up with the rest of the world in mobile communications application use. The soon to be TopSlide Inc. holds great promise as a start-up for the investor that always thinks along the lines of “if-only I had known.“
